Forklift Seat Belts - Described in the Regulation guidelines are the application of operative restraints and seatbelts on forklifts. It states that the accountability falls on the employers' to make sure that every machine, piece of equipment and tool is utilized correctly utilized according to the directions of the manufacturer.

Rough Terrain forklifts have to meet the regulations of ANSI Standard ASME B56.6-1992 in regards to their design, maintenance, inspection, fabrication and use.

Mobile machinery such as side boom tractors together with a Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS), should have seat belts that meet the Society of Automotive Engineers safety requirements; Society of Automotive Engineers Standard J386 JUN93, Operator Restraint System for Off-Road Work Machines. If any mobile machinery has seat belts required by law, the driver and subsequent passengers should ensure they use the belts every time the motor vehicle is in motion or engaged in operation in view of the fact that this could cause the machinery to become unbalanced and therefore, unsafe.

The seat belt requirements while operating a forklift depend on different factors. Whether or not the lift truck is equipped along with a Rollover Protective Structure, the type of forklift itself and the year the forklift was actually made all add to this determination.
